Phase One – Kindergarten and Teachers’ College
Misioneras Hijas de la Sagrada Familia de Nazaret and Esclavas de la Eucaristía are joining forces to develop a new Teachers Training College and accompanying early-childhood to secondary school in Timor Leste. These highly reputed educational institutions have teamed up with Education Design International to bring their vision to life.
As a very new country with a long history of political strife, Timor Leste is now poised to emerge as an important regional power but there is still much work that needs to be done. Perhaps more important than any development initiative, is the need to provide high quality educational opportunities for the children of Timor Leste.
However, the sponsors of this project understand that a major obstacle to the creation of good schools is the lack of adequately trained teachers – and especially those who are qualified to deliver the skills and competencies needed to be successful national and global citizens. That is the motivation to create a high-end teacher training center to work together with and in close coordination with a modern school.
