This project started with a commitment to the value of Higher Education, and the lack of specialist universities in Thailand. Our client looked to create a brand new University on a greenfield site that offered high quality education for some of the nation’s brightest undergraduate students. Five year later VISTEC is Thailand’s top Research Campus offering Master and Doctoral Degree Programs in:
- Molecular Science and Engineering
- Energy Science and Engineering
- Biomolecular Science and Engineering
- Information Science and Technology
FNI was commissioned from the very early states of the project to help in the planning and design process and to act as the design architect in charge of the educational spaces and programming. Through initial visioning meetings we discussed innovative teaching and learning at the university level and formed an idea of what education could look like at this new university campus with unlimited potential. The result was a series of major specific lab buildings infused with meeting, and general learning spaces, dormitories, and a fantastic site filled with learning spaces and paths for the students to explore. This up and coming university is on track to be one of the top research facilities in the world by 2023.
